Tip of the Day #84: Real Wedding Spotlight on Mindy + David This past spring, Square Mile Events had the absolute pleasure of working with Mindy and David, a fun-loving couple based in Long Island City, New York. During my first meeting with Mindy she turned to me with a serious look on her face and started with the phrase, “There is something you need to know about David and me…” My initial reaction was to queue pen to paper to avoid showing any visible reaction but to my relief Mindy took a deep breath and then followed up with declaring that she and David are obsessed with the New York Rangers. Obsessed.

It would have been fitting if David and Mindy had met each other at a Rangers game but their meet cute is even more unique. After Mindy’s aunt was visiting a family member in the hospital, she sent Mindy a text describing the handsome doctor on call, Dr. David Silver, and could not help herself from asking if he was single because her fabulous, beautiful niece was single and he just had to meet her. Mindy and David hit it off and two years {and many Rangers wins and losses later} Mindy and David decided to wed.

One of the most special elements felt throughout Mindy and David’s wedding was the presence and support of family. Mindy’s mother hand-knit the yarmulkes for the ceremony, her aunt designed all of the paper goods for the wedding and Mindy's cousin, who stars on Broadway, gave a special tribute to the couple by surprising guests and serenading the wedding party with Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud." Mindy and David's Rabbi, a long time friend of her family played an integral role into uniting Mindy and David in a moving and meaningful ceremony.

Mindy's wedding decor was understated and elegant featuring pink and white floral accents and natural glowing candlelight. The reception area featured pinspot and string lights, which highlighted the dance floor against the backdrop of the sun setting over the East River.

To carry out Mindy and David's love of the Rangers, they placed Rangers branded rally towels on each seat at the ceremony and guests waved their towels in a celebratory manner during the ceremony recessional. Mindy also surprised David with a Rangers groom's cake and David's best man made a play on the couple's Rangers obsession with a comical cardboard cut out of David's head wearing a Rangers jersey that he placed next to David during his speech.

Mindy and David's wedding guests spent the majority of the evening on their feet dancing and singing to Motown and top 40 hits. The night ended with sweet S'mores under Studio Square's porte cochere. Mazel Tov, Mindy and David! Cheers to a beautiful, fun-filled wedding, we loved working with you!
